I love hearing from people who have tried my patterns, and it makes my day if you share a success photo!

Also thank you very much for error or typo reports.

  • Hi Janel, I came across your swirl skirt instructions on Pinterest. Your skirts and dresses are amazing! I was actually looking for a swirl skirt but as a wrap skirt. That wouldn’t be too difficult, would it? Once I have the skirt layed flat, I could just cut it through and make a wrap skrit, no? I’m thinking of converting my dad’s old light blue shirts into such a skirt, what do you think? Will that material be too stiff?
If I manage, you will get a photo!

    • Thanks, so kind of you! A skirt made out of different blues would look really pretty!
I’ve never tried it, but cutting up through a skirt to make a wrap skirt sounds doable. You could add another couple gores to allow extra width. Have fun!

  • Hi, I thought you should know that your pattern (rather the photos and instructions) for the Barbie doll halter neck dress are in 2 books I purchased online. Please contact me if you want more details.

    • I do appreciate you sharing. That’s not unusual, and usually nothing I can do about it. Some people even THANK me for my patterns and then rip them off and copy and sell. It’s easier to notice when they’ve just shared their username!
Honestly, it might be weird but what bugs me worse is people who make photocopies of “vintage” patterns STILL IN COPYRIGHT by the big three commercial companies and sell them as pdfs on Etsy which is not only wrong but egregiously illegal and Etsy won’t do anything about it. Some of those sellers have sold thousands of COPIES of Simplicity patterns, but it’s not within Simplicity’s means to go after them in court. They ignore them like the small time pirates that they are. End rant 🙂

  • Hi Janel, thank you so much for the free patterns for the 28″ Barbie doll. They are so hard to find. I have made a few dresses for my granddaughter’s doll which she loved. I thought you might like to have a look at them. Thank you once again.

    • Marisa, I have a request. I’ve just shredded my site to fix an error that occurred and I lost several things, among them your attachments. Could you possibly re-upload them? They were so pretty, I want to share them with the world!

      • Wait, I actually found them! They got scooped up in my uploads folder. Yayy! I think the easiest way to re-share them is to add them at the bottom of the pattern page so I’m going to do that. Thank you again!

  • Hi there. I’m new to sewing Barbie clothes. I found your “basic bodice” on Pinterest, but didn’t see an actual pattern.

Where might I find that? So sorry if I’m dense…lol…

    Thanks so much!

  • I printed the one shoulder top pattern but don’t see any instructions. Can you provide that?

    • That pattern needs some more work done on it. I’m going to make a note of that on the page and get to it asap. Thanks for pointing it out!

  • Hi Janel thank you for sharing your patterns. I’m really interested in the 28 inch Barbie clothes. Love your ideas and designs. X
