Thunderbird Tutorials
Note: This was written BEFORE the Thunderbird Stationery Extension, now available here, which makes this irrelevant! The extension makes Tbird work almost like OE.
But I'll leave these instructions up as long as anyone's still finding them helpful.
Thunderbird is the coolest email program!
What it can do that I constantly appreciate:
Right-click the subject line of an email to delete it without the body ever appearing in the preview page
Keyboard shortcut "N" to go to next unread message in any folder
Ctrl + Z to get back a message you just deleted without having to go dig it out of the trash
Header display options, so you can see the sender's email or copy the subject line conveniently
The "paste without formatting" option
The Search bar!
Option to block loading of remote images in email unless the sender's in your address book
What Outlook Express does better:
Checking accounts sequentially
Stationery!
And yet, you can use stationery with Thunderbird! It is possible to be girly and send pretty emails. It just takes a little extra effort. With Thunderbird you won't gather a huge collection of stationery, you'll just make a few favorites for everyday use.
You have to make and save "Templates" and then double-click on a Template to compose a new email.
